what is a good second monitor for iMac 4k

Hello all,

I just upgraded from iMac 2011 to iMac 2015 4k, my second display worked fine on older iMac, on my new iMac the display is stretched, I am using the thunderbolt to vga adapter btw. but my second monitor has dvi, My question is there a software that would allow me to correct the res. to my monitor? or a terminal command to correct this, or should i just update my monitor, I am looking for low to mid -end but maybe one that swivels 90 deg. If any one has suggestions on software, commands, or a monitor they use or the minimum resolution specs i could use as an additional display would be greatly appreciated. i do not need high end I just want one as an additional screen because i often have multiple pages open at one time.

Hello 3noa,

Thanks for that info and congrats on your new iMac. I know how important using a second monitor with your new iMac, as I personally use multiple monitors as well!

If I understand correctly, you are having an issue with the external display looking stretched when connected via VGA adapter to your new iMac, when it worked with your old iMac. You should be able use the steps in this link to set the resolution for the connected display to a proper size.
